Being founded on April 01st, 1956, in Hai Phong and thru several times of name
changing, the school has been officially named Vietnam Maritime University (VIMARU) in 1976. In order to meet human resources training of Vietnam maritime sector, specially in the South of Vietnam, a branch of VIMARU has been established in Ho Chi Minh city in August 1991.

ICMAC Seafarers Center
With the functions of training and re-training seafarers having grades as regulated by the international conventions enable to work on board the vessels domestic or abroard, the center after 4 year of operations and promotion has trained and managed a number of 684 seafarers of which including 135 deck officers and 127 engine officers.
